Multiple fire departments fought a blaze that broke out at a Route 23 strip mall in Sussex County on Sunday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a structure fire at Acme Plaza in Wantage Township at 9:41 a.m., State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Flynn said. The fire started in a dry cleaning business in the Acme Plaza strip mall and it was deemed not suspicious.

There were no reported injuries, he said.

Video posted to social media showed flames and smoke shooting out of a Chinese restaurant, pizza shop and U.S. Postal Service store. There was minor smoke and water damage to a few buildings in the plaza, Flynn said.

The fire was put out by 10:30 a.m., but personnel remain on scene, Flynn said.

Multiple units responded, including the Sussex Fire Department, Lakeland Emergency Squad and Glenwood Pochuck Volunteer Ambulance Corps

SUSSEX BOROUGH -- A 19th century barn was destroyed early Sunday by a fire, according to Sussex County Fire Marshal Virgil Rome.

He said the fire at on Clove Avenue (Route 23), was discovered about 3 a.m. by Scott House, director of the Sussex County Division of Public Works, who was checking road conditions.

The barn is located behind the house, built in 1870.

Rome said House was able to get the attention of people in the house who got out without incident.

He said the heat from the burning barn radiated onto the back of the house and caused the back screen door to melt.

The barn, likely built soon after the house was erected, was damaged enough that it will have to be razed, the fire marshal said.

The barn was used for storage and contained several motorcycles, ATVs and snowmobiles.

The cause of the fire is listed as "undetermined."

Firefighters from Sussex Borough, Colesville, Beemerville and Hamburg responded as well as Sussex EMS.

Rome said firefighters were able to use hydrants along Clove Avenue (Route 23) to fight the fire. No injuries were reported.
